Jyoti Bharti, also known as "Poki," is the ancestral home of the legendary Assamese polymath Jyoti Prasad Agarwala. Located in Tezpur, this historic residence was converted into a museum to preserve the legacy of the man who pioneered Assamese cinema and modern literature. The building is an architectural landmark, reflecting a unique blend of Assamese and colonial styles.
The museum houses a collection of personal artifacts belonging to Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and his family, including original manuscripts, musical instruments, and gramophone records. It also features rare photographs of the production of Joymoti (1935), the first Assamese film.
The museum preserves the original recording equipment and film-related materials used during the making of Joymoti. It also contains the original handwritten lyrics of his famous "Jyoti Sangeet" compositions.
