Museum Introduction

Established on June 1, 1915, by Raj Rana Bhawani Singh, the Government Museum is one of the oldest museums in Rajasthan. It was relocated in 2012 to the mardana (eastern) wing of the historic Garh Palace in Jhalawar. The museum is a premier repository for the archaeological and artistic heritage of the Jhalawar State, featuring 32 galleries of international standards.

General Collections

The collection includes nearly 1,00,000 specimens, featuring rare 5th to 10th-century sculptures, epigraphs, and inscriptions recovered from the ruins of Chandravati and Jhalrapatan. It also houses an extensive range of miniature paintings, royal portraits, rare manuscripts, coins, and 19th-century weapons.

Unique Historical Collections
