Museum Introduction

Established in 1996 and managed by the Government of Rajasthan, the Government Museum, Sikar is dedicated to the preservation and display of the rich cultural heritage of the Shekhawati region. It is housed in a building constructed by the Public Works Department and serves as a central repository for antiquities found across the Sikar district.

The museum features a significant collection of stone sculptures, terracotta items, ancient coins, and weapons. It primarily showcases artifacts from the Shekhawati region, highlighting the transition of art and culture from the ancient to the medieval periods.

Unique Historical Collections

Harshanath Sculptures: A rare collection of 252 stone sculptures and an inscription gifted by the Rao Raja of Sikar, originally from the 10th-century Harshnath Temple. Ganeshwara Antiquities: Archaeological finds including copper objects and pottery from the ancient site of Ganeshwara, representing the early Copper Age culture in Rajasthan.
