The Golden Threshold is the historic residence of the "Nightingale of India," Sarojini Naidu, located in the Abids area of Hyderabad. Named after her first collection of poetry published in 1905, the 19th-century Indo-European mansion served as a significant hub for political and social reformists during the Indian freedom struggle. It was donated to the University of Hyderabad in 1974 by her daughter, Padmaja Naidu.
The museum is dedicated to the life, literary works, and political legacy of Sarojini Naidu. Its collection primarily comprises rare photographs, personal correspondence, and first editions of her poetic anthologies. The site itself is a major exhibit, reflecting the intellectual and cultural atmosphere of early 20th-century Hyderabad.
Bapu's Mango Tree: A mango tree situated in the premises that was personally planted by Mahatma Gandhi during one of his two visits to the residence (1929 and 1934). Gopal Clinic Foundation: The site retains the historical significance of where Gandhi laid the foundation stone for a naturopathy clinic in 1934.
