Established in 1960, the District Museum, Bomdila (often associated with the Craft Centre) is a significant ethnographic repository in the West Kameng district. It was founded to preserve and promote the traditional arts, crafts, and lifestyle of the indigenous tribes such as the Monpa, Sherdukpen, Aka, and Miji.
The collection comprises approximately 767 ethnographic artifacts, including traditional tribal costumes, indigenous weapons, household utility items, and bamboo and cane handicrafts. It also features a variety of personal ornaments and ceremonial tools.
Monastic Art & Thangkas: An exquisite collection of Buddhist religious scroll paintings (Thangkas) and traditional masks used in monastic dances. Dragon-Design Carpets: Exquisite handwoven carpets featuring authentic dragon motifs, a specialty of the Monpa community.
