Established in 1956, the District Museum Ziro is one of the oldest museums in Arunachal Pradesh. It serves as a central institution for the preservation and display of the material culture and artistic heritage of the Apatani tribe and other ethnic groups of the Lower Subansiri district.
The collection primarily consists of ethnographic objects including traditional tribal costumes, indigenous tools, bamboo and cane handicrafts, and household utility items. It also features a variety of personal ornaments and ceremonial artifacts unique to the Ziro Valley.
Apatani Cultural Artifacts: Rare traditional nose plugs (yaping hullo) and jewelry made of turquoise and coral, alongside specialized hand-woven textiles (gale) reflecting the specific social history and identity of the Apatani people.
