Inaugurated in February 1982, the museum is spread across a three-acre complex. It was established to safeguard artifacts unearthed from various excavation sites in the Nalgonda district, including Yeleswaram, Phanigiri, and Vardamana Kota.
The museum houses a diverse collection of nearly 640 antiquities. These include prehistoric stone tools, ancient coins, bronze icons, beads, traditional arms and weapons, and significant copper plate inscriptions.
Ikshvaku Sculptures: Features rare statues of Hindu deities dating back to the Andhra Ikshvaku dynasty (3rd century CE). Submerged Heritage: Preserves ancient Shiva Lingas and sculptures rescued from villages like Yeleswaram before they were submerged by the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam.
