The museum is part of the Shri Digambar Jain Siddha Kshetra Sonagiri pilgrimage complex. It was established to provide visitors with insights into Jain history, cosmology, and the specific significance of Sonagiri as a Siddha-Kshetra (place of salvation).
The collection consists of ancient Jain idols, rare manuscripts, and detailed paintings. It also features architectural models of important Jain pilgrimage sites across India and exhibits depicting the lives of the 24 Tirthankaras.
Rock-Cut Heritage: While primarily housed in the nearby temples, the museum context emphasizes the 5th–6th century rock-cut image of Chandraprabhu. It also preserves rare Bhattarakapada-sthāpnā manuscripts produced during Sonagiri's time as a major scholastic seat.
