Museum Introduction

Inaugurated on April 28, 2006, during the Golden Jubilee Year of Kurukshetra University, the museum portrays the living traditions of Haryana. It features over 50 curated galleries designed to connect the younger generation with their rural and agricultural roots.

General Collections

The collection focuses on Haryanvi folk life, featuring traditional costumes, jewelry, agricultural tools, household utensils, and musical instruments. It also houses a section dedicated to the Indian Army and the history of Kurukshetra University.

Unique Historical Collections

World’s Largest Operational Hookah: A massive, functional traditional smoking pipe. The Village Model: A life-size, realistic recreation of a traditional Haryanvi village, including a mud kitchen and various socio-economic exhibits.

Notes The museum is self-sustaining and is the only university-run museum of its kind in India. It also operates a sister wing, the 1857 War Museum, located in the same vicinity.
