Established in 2000 following the UNESCO inscription, the museum is located on the first floor of the Ghum Railway Station (7,407 ft). It preserves the engineering legacy of the DHR, which was constructed between 1879 and 1881 to connect the Darjeeling hills with the plains.

General Collections

The collection includes vintage locomotives, rolling stock, and a gallery of artifacts such as old station bells, uniforms, and signaling equipment. It also features detailed information boards tracing the DHR's timeline from the 1840s to the present.

Unique Historical Collections

"Baby Sivok": The museum grounds house the oldest DHR B-Class steam locomotive (built in 1881), which was the first construction engine of the line. Also includes a Miniature DHR Replica and a detailed model of the Batasia Loop engineering marvel.
