Decommissioned in 2005 and inaugurated as a museum in November 2006, INS Chapal (K94) is a Chamak-class (Osa II) missile boat. Stationed on a concrete pedestal at Rabindranath Tagore Beach in Karwar, it is one of only three warship museums in India and serves as a tribute to the maritime prowess of the Indian Navy’s missile fleet.
The museum preserves the ship’s internal operational layout, including the engine room, wireless station, galley (kitchen), crew bunks, and the commanding officer's cabin. It features life-size mannequins dressed as doctors, sailors, and officers to illustrate shipboard life.
As an Osa-class missile boat, it represents the specific vessel type that conducted the historic raids on Karachi Port during Operation Trident and Operation Python (1971), though this specific hull (K94) was commissioned in 1976 and serves as a representative of that victorious class.
