Museum Introduction
Inaugurated in May 2015, the Dr. Abdul Kalam Puducherry Science Centre and Planetarium is a premier educational facility located in Lawspet, Puducherry. Developed by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) in collaboration with the Government of Puducherry, it aims to stimulate scientific curiosity and astronomical interest among students and the public.
General Collections
The centre features three main permanent galleries: Fun Science, Marine Gallery, and Science Park. The collection consists of interactive, hands-on exhibits that demonstrate principles of mechanics, optics, and sound, as well as displays focused on the coastal ecology and maritime heritage of Puducherry.
Unique Historical Collections
Digital Planetarium: A state-of-the-art dome theater that offers immersive shows on the solar system, galaxies, and celestial phenomena. Marine Life Gallery: A specialized section showcasing the rich biodiversity of the Bay of Bengal, featuring life-sized models of marine mammals and coral reef ecosystems.
