Inaugurated on August 31, 1996, the museum is located in the former residence of social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy (built c. 1814). It showcases the rich tradition and history of the Kolkata Police, reflecting its development from the 17th century to the modern era.
The collection spans eight galleries featuring items seized during the Indian freedom struggle, evolution of arms and ammunition, vintage uniforms, medals, and detective department records.
64 Declassified Netaji Files: The museum is uniquely authorized to display digital and hard copies of declassified files related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. It also houses a 100-year-old "Book Bomb" designed by revolutionary Hemchandra Das to target Magistrate D.H. Kingsford.
