Museum Introduction

Inaugurated in its modern avatar in 2022, the museum was created by the Indian Army to document the rich military heritage of the Black Cat Division and the cultural evolution of Sikkim. It aims to foster a sense of pride and connection between the local community and the armed forces.

General Collections

The museum spans two floors featuring rare photographs, murals, and historical artifacts. It covers everything from the early days of the Sikkim Kingdom to the 1975 merger with India and major military engagements in the region.

Unique Historical Collections

1967 Nathu La & Cho La Skirmishes: The museum houses a unique, detailed account of the 1967 India-China war at Nathu La, including original documents and weaponry from the conflict. It is also the only museum in Sikkim to feature a dedicated Selfie Room and an advanced Audio Guide System.
